SOUTH ISLAND FINAL. SOUTHLAND BOYS’ HIGH SCHOOL VICTORS. PEB PRESS ASSOCIATION. INVERCARGILL September 1. The honour of contesting the final for the Moascar Cup was secured by the. Southland Boys’ High School to-day, when Christchurch High School was defeated by 8 points to 3. Both teams were tired after the strenuous tournament play. The ground was holding, nevertheless a good fast game resulted. The teams were evenly matched both in the backs and forwards. THE FIRST SCORE. Christchurch opened the scoring account early in the game. Brown fielding a random kick at halfway and passing to Mortlock, to Hindenach, to Cromb, to McMillan, the latter ending a splendid movement with a score in the corner. The try was not converted. Christchuroh 8, Invercargill 0. AN EXCELLENT TRY. i Halfway through the spell the Christchuroh full-back was penalised for lying on the ball, and Morgan kicked a good goal. Shortly after the Southland half-back (Kilby) secured from a line-out and sent a low cross-kick to Morgan on the wing, the latter securing' end, after beating two opponents with a splendid swerving run, scored under the posts. Harrington oonverted. Invercargill 8, Christchurch 8. Christchurch made strenuous efforts to equalise in the second spell. The forwards secured the ball from most of the scrums and fed their backs, but the attack lacked finish. FINAL MATCH TO-DAY. The final of the North Island section of the Moascar Cup competition is to be played at Palmerston North to-day, the contestants being Auckland Grammar School and Wanganui Technical School. Mr Thompson (Manawatu) will be the referee. The winners of that match will play the winners of ths South Island seotion, who are now stated to be Southland Boys’ High School.
