GUILTY OF FORGERY
SUPREME COURT SITTINGS. pan PBESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, August 18. At the Supreme Court to-day Charles Francos Riley was charged “that on May 6ttb he mode a false document, namely a cheque for £BOOO, intending that it should be acted upon as genuine; and that on May 23rd, with intent to defraud, he attempted to obtain £SO from Don. Harvey by falsely stating that he had sold the rights of a patent to Mennie, Ltd., of Auckland, for the sum of £8000.” Accused was found guilty of forgery, with a recommendation to mercy by the jury, and sentence was deferred till Tuesday.
