INVITATION TO CHAMPION SWIMMERS. PEB PBESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, August 18. A special cabled invitation from the Hawaiian Association of Amateur Ath. letaos Union of. the United States was received this morning by the New Zea land Amateur Swimming Association for Misses Pauline Hoeft, of Auckland, and Gwitha Shand, of Christchurch, to visit Honolulu to swim during October. It is proposed that the girls should leave Auckland by the Makura on September 26th, leaving Honolulu again on October 28th and arriving back in New Zealand on November 10th. Miss Hoeft is New Zealand champion and record-holder for the 100 yards, and Miss Sband is champion and record-holder for the 440 yards. It is probable that the invitation will bo accepted. The events contested in Honolulu! will decide the world’s championship.
