CHARGE OF MANSLAUGHTER

ARREST IN CHRISTCHURCH. DECEASED’S STORY OF QUARREL PEE PEESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, March 18. Robert Dasler, labourer, of Sydenham, was-arrested to-day on a charge of manslaughter of Edward Samuel Darrell, who died in Christchurch Hospital on March 13th. At the inquest on Darrell, early in the week, it transpired that deceased was found lying at the hack of the Opera House on the evening of March 6th. He was arrested for drunkenness, but was subsequently admitted to the Christchurch Hospital. There he complained that he had fallen and hurt his head.

Prior to the arrest, Dasler had stated to the police that he and deceased had had an altercation on the afternoon of March 6th, after which blows were Btruck.
