AN UNPRECEDENTED POSITION.. Renter’® Telegram. - LONDON, October 31. In the annual report of Lloyd’s Register, new tonnage classed by the society for the year ended June 30th decreased 25 per cent, compared with 1919-20. Following on the great decrease in new orders for 1920-21, there have been such extensive redactions in the plans submitted to the society in recent months as to indicate an unprecedented slump in raw tonnage. Fiftyeight per cent, of the new ships are fitted for oil-burning. _ For the first timein the society’s history, more oilburning ships than coal-burners have been built. .
