IN THE WHITE SEA
GERMAN MINE-SWEEPERS FORCED TO WITHDRAW. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received Julv 29, 5.5 p.m.) CHRISTIANIA, July 23. German mine-sweepers in the Whitt Sea. were compelled to return to Vardoo owing to Bolshevik hostility. Russian batteries on the Murman coast opened fire for an hour, farcing the Germans to withdraw.
