THE IRISH TRUCE

AUSTRALIA AND DR. MANNEX. Bi '' ‘ ‘’jjelboEßNE? July 23. Sir Joseph Cook has announced that tho Federal Cabinet has decided not to administer tho oath of allegiance To Archbishop Mann’x upon his landing. It was clearly its intention to have done so, and only after tho gravest deliberation was the intention waived. The reason for this action was not to jeopardise tho truce now in existence between the Imperial Government and Irish leaders over Irish affairs. It was expected that the truce was to bo observed in Australia, and that nothing should bo done to prejudice a settlement.
