IN THE BATHROOM
THEFT OF MONEY BELT
COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE. A young mmed Robert Strath was brought before Mr G. S. Evans, 3.M., in the Magistrate’s Court ye*, terdsy to answer a charge of stealing a money bett and £BS 10b fid in money, the property of Victor Edward Woods. The offence was alleged to have been committed at Wellington on or shout March 6th, 1931. Victor Edward Woods, chief petty officer in charge of victualling on the Philomel, said that in March last he was in Wellington and staying at a house in Tborndon quay. On Mardfi 6th last be got up about 7.43. At the time he was wearing a money belt and when he went to the -bathroom he hung the belt, which contained the sum of £35, mi a hoofc in the bathroom. On leaving the room he forgot the belt and went into dress, bnt, returning to the bathroom later, found the belt mossing. He did not know the accused in the matter at all. At the conclusion of the evidence the accused pleaded guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Detective-Sergeant Andrews conducted the prosecution and Mr C. A. L. Treadwell appared for the accused.
