MR S. WOOD DECLINES. A deputation recently waited on Councillor S. Wood and made a request that he allow himself to he nominated for the coming Mayoral election in In declining Hie honour, Councillor Wood stated that he felt that a strong personality was. required in the chair of the council as strenuous times were ahead. He added that he was of the opinion that the present Mayor, Mr J. Vigor Brown, had done his duty well and was quite capable of controlling successfully any council -which might be elected.
