The Divorce Court decided that a decree of tlhe Indian Court dissolving marriages contracted in India between persons resident in India but domiciled in England is invalid. Consequently an Act of Parliament ia necessary to legalise numerous Indian divorces granted and remarriages during the last fiftytwo years. Replying to a question in the House of Commons, whether,, having regard to the hardships of wives deserted in the United Kingdom by Australian soldiers, arrangements can be njede for the enforcement in Australia of separation and' maintenance orders made in Britain, Colonel Amery said that Britain’s share in remedial measures was performed last session. It was for the Commonwealth to apply the Act to Australia.
