(Received March 11, 8.55 p.LEI.J ADELAIDE, March 11

The weather was perfect for the cricket match Englishmen versus- South Australia. There was a poor attendance at the commencement, but it gradually increased. Luck favoured the local skipper, who won tho toss and decided to bat, and Smith, the captain, opeued with the “colt” Harris. Play was desultory, for a while, until Fender effected a separation with the score at 73, clean -bowling Harris for 40. Smith reached 45 and then was out, hitting Par-kin straight to Howell at mid-off. He played a solid innings for 105 minutes and hit six fours. The century was hoisted two minutes later, simultaneously with the dismissal of Power. Richardson and Rundell infused brightness, but tho last-named missed a fast one from Parkin.

Jose had a short reign, being caught in the alius by Russell, for 16. Richardson was shaping well all round the wicket, and scored 16 off one over from Parkm. Murray returned one straight hack to Fender when he had scored four, and Loveridge was caught by Douglas at short-leg for three. Fender made short work of Moroney and Williams. Richardson reached 46,. made in faultless style, when he was run out. He was batting for 73 minutes and made fire fours. Richardson ricked his hack. Hobbs and Rhodes opened for England, but the first-named had hardly settled down when he cocked one high to fine leg, and McKenzie, fielding for Richardson, took the oatch. I—lß.1 —18.
