PURCHASE OF HIGHMORE'S “PAMELA” STUDIES. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received March 11, 5.5 p.mj LONDON, March 10. Tho National Gallery, the Fitzwilliam Museum at Cambridge, and the Felton Bequest -have co-operated in purchasing twelve of Joseph Highmore’s illustrations to Richardson’s novel, “Pamela,” painted in 1744. They are brilliant eighteen century “conversation” pieces. Tho other galleries accepted Mr Frank Rinderis proposals to share in the purchase, as the twelve canvases are too many for one gallery.
