DOMINION GUARDS

IS THE SCHEME TMPRAC- . TIC ABLE? Australian and N " Cable Association. LONDON, March 10. A section of the Press is reviving- Mr Churchill’s Dominion Guards project, declaring that the Dominion Premiers will diecuss the scheme at- the approaching conference. Tho War Office informs the Australian Press Agency that the scheme was finally abandoned in 1919 after serious consideration. From every point .of view it is impracticable. 'Hie subject has not been and is not, likely to be officially revived. The War Office authorities are not antagonistic to the suggestion; on the contrary, they are eager to strengthen the Empire in every direction, but the difficulties of the varying rates of pay in the Dominions and a natural desire to control the movement® of their own nationals in the event of war outweighs possible advantages of the scheme.
