AN INTERESTING RETURN. The Speaker (Sir F. W. Lang) laid on the table of the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon a return showing the length of service of members of Parliament, .and, on the motion of the Prime Minister, it was ordered to be printed. Otn his retirement, Sir Jaimes Allen (now High Commissioner/ London), was “father” of the House of Representatives, haying been elected in 1887 and served in eleven Parliaments. The Rt. Hon. W. F. Massey and the Speaker have both served in nine Parliaments, and were first elected in 1894. Sir W, H. Herries, first elected in 1897, has served m eight Parliaments; as also has Dr. Newman, first elected in 1884, but Dr. Newman’s Parliamentary career has been a broken one. Sir R. H. Rhodes, the Hon. J. A. Hannan, and Mr T. M. Wilform, all first elected in 1900, have served in six Parliaments; and By has Mr T.. K. Sidev, first elected in 1900. Messrs F. Mander, G. "Witty and W. H. Field have served in six Parliaments ; and Messrs A. S. .Malcolm, H. Poland, W. T. Jennins, T. E. Y. Seddon, and the Hon. A. T. Ngata in five.
