FRANCE AND GERMANY
QUESTION OF NO DIRECT NEGOTIATIONS. Australian ‘ and N.Z. Cable Association, (Received October 8, 8 p.m.) LONDON, October 7. According to the “Daily Telegraph’s” Paris correspondent there is no truth in the statement that direbt negotiations have been commenced between France and Germany, though it is true that there have been conversations at Brussels ,to settle the problem of reparations. There is no idea of Franco abandoning the Geneva Conference, though President Millerand is likely to require more formal guarantees from Britain and the other Allies than he has thus far received before he goes to Geneva. (Received October 8, 8 p.m.) PARIS, October 7. It is officially stated that no direct negotiations are proceeding between France and Germany regarding reparations, which is a matter for all the Allies.
