STRIKE IN PORTUGAL
MANY SERVICES AFFECTED. Reuter’a Telegram. (Received October 8, 5.5 p.m.) MADRID, October 6. A general strike, apparently of a revolutionary character, has broken out throughout Portugal. The postal and telegraph and telephone employees and also the naval reservists, railwaymen, and dockers, have 1 all ceasdd work. News from Portugal is meagre. REPORTS EXAGGERATED. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received October 8, 8 p.m.) LONDON, October 7. The Portuguese Legation states that the strike reports' are exaggerated. There is only ia partial railway strike. Many trains are running, and there have been no disturbances. ~
