MIRAMAR AND THE CITY

POLL ON AMALGAMATION ISSUE. The Miramar Borough Council has received a petition from a large number of ratepayers requesting tho council to take a poll on the question of tho amalgamation of Miramax with the city of Wellington. ' As a result of the council's deliberations last night it was decided to carry out the request, but it was pointed out that hitherto the general imprqß-> sion amongst the people of the district had been that the time is not yet opportune to amalgamate with tho city on unconditional terms. The poll will bo taken towards the end of the month.
