SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH
IMPORTANT RECOMMENDATIONS. Consideration is now boing given to the proposal made in tho Financial Statement that during the present session steps would be .taken to givo effect to tho recommendations of the Industries Commission, the New Zealand Institute, and the Now Zealand Board of Science and Art ' regarding scientific research. The Board of Science and Art, which'was set up in 1913, is to be converted into a Board of Science and Industry, and its powers and scope of action enlarged. By this means it is hoped that scientist* will bo encouraged to make investigations, with the object of improving and enlarging our ' native industries.' The board is to be given greater opportunities. Scientific researoh, it is hoped, will bo carried into every brunch of industry. It is said that some important recommendations on the subject are "to be made to the Government.
