VESSEL’S ARRIVAL CELEBRATED TER TRESS ASSOCIATION. GISBORNE, April 9. A largely-attended public dinner was held to celebrate the arrival of the first locally-owned ocean liner, tho Poverty Bay Meat Company’s steamer, Admiral Codriugton. Speeches eulogising tho enterprise were made by Mr W. D Lysnar, M.P., chairman of directors of the company; Dr Chappie, cs-Member of the House of Commons; Captain Plunket, Lloyd’s representative ; Mr C. A. do I. at our, chairman of directors of the Gisborne Sheep-farmers’ Company;, and others. Great enthusiasm wag shown by tho six hundred guests.
