KARORI DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB

The Karori Defence Rifle, Club held its annual general meeting on Wednesday evening last, in the Old Navals' boat station, there being a fair attendance' of memtes. The annual report shows the club to be m a good financial .position, notwithstanding the. large •nunjbe-r, of its active members being away in various theatres of the war. The club holds the unique position of having, out of a membership at the commencement of the war of 65, of being able to enrol sufficient mombera to keep the olub going, and has a record of 66 enlistments up to date. The club lost one of its most* active vice-presi-dents, Captain J. Heir, who was recently killed in aotion, and his loss, will be severely felt by the club. Further honours : have been, added to the club's i military record by the late president, Lieutenant H. T. Marshall, who has been awarded the Military Cross for a daring exploit in the enemy's trenches on the Western front. It has been decided to fire for all cups and tropflies during the forthcoming season, which will open during October. The following officers were elected at the meeting Patron, Mr W. H. Field, M.P. (re-elected); vice-patron, Mr F. J. Lissington (re-elected); president, Mr W. Judd (re-elected); deputy-president, Rifleman H. Bulford; vice-presidents, Colonel G. T. Hall, Judge Rawson, Messrs 3. F. Mills, C. O. Odlin, L. Blundell, W. J. Blundell, Owen Daley, W- S. Jackson. A. Collins, and W. T. Hildreth: hon. secretary, Rifleman E W. Ijaniel; assistant secretary, Rifleman H. V. Croxton; treasurer, Hifle>. man W. A. Farquhar; handicapper, Rifleman G. Tinney; auditor, Rifleman R. Randall.; committee, Riflemen G. Tinney, Skegg, A. Jensen, and R. H. Hooper; selection committee, President W. Judd, Deputy-President H. Bulford, and Rifleman G. Tinney; delegates to Rifle Club Union, President W. Judd, Deputy-President H. Bulford, and Rifleman E. Daniel.
