The National Dairy Show, which oiwns to-morrow and closes on Friday, gives promise of being the most successful yet held. The various exhibitors are busy to-day erecting stalls and preparing displays, while the cheese and butter experts have had a hard task set them in deciding on the awards in the several classes. The entries tor both butter and cheese are more numerous than in previous years and competition is exceptionally keen. The weather is cold but fine to-day, with a strong westerly breeze. Compared with last year _ the aggregate of entries shows a falling off. tho totals being: Last year 2587, this 2490. In 19X6 there were 239 entries in. the dairy produce classes, while the number staged this year is 337, tho increase being duo to 47 additional entries in dairy factory blitter and 51 in dairy factory cheese. With tho exception of entries for the competitions and deerheads, there is a marked improvement over last year. 'The championship aggregate ! given for the best box of butter (561 b) suitable for export, in classes 1 and. 6, was awarded to the Taieri and Peninsula Factory, with 190 points. N.Z.D.A. (Frankton) was second with 183 points, and Ballance and Masterton factories tied for third place, with 187) points each. The following are the class winners ; CEASS 1.
