AGENCIES DOMINATED BY GERMAN INFLUENCE, By Telegraph—Pro«s Association—Copyright , MELBOURNE, July 10. The Hon. W. M, Hughes stated that though Australian metals are necessary for the manufacture of munitions, the agencies whereby they find their way to the world’s markets are still dominated by German influence. Though he had done everything to free Australian companies, ho had not had that support to ensure success. Not a single company had availed itself of the Enemy Contract Annulment Act. “If the British Government will indicate its desire to utilise the metal output we are prepared to do whatever is necessary.’’ GERMANS INTERNED. ' (Received July 11, 4 p.m.) MELBOURNE, July 11. The Executive has ordered possessors of metal stocks to notify the authorities. * Herr W. Adena, formerly German Consul, and Herr Walter Schmidt and Herr Franz Wallach, directors of the Australian Metal Company, have been interned.
