EXPORT OF SHEEPSKINS

SOME STARTLING FIGURES. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright SYDNEY, July 10. A comparative table of the- export of sheepskins shows an extraordinary increase since the war began. Last August 2600 sheepskins with wool were exported to America, rising in October to 157,902. For the same months of the previous year there was no export at all, and only 330 skins for the whole six months, July to December. The total exports for the year were 389,549, valued at £78,433, compared with 87,633, valued at £17,517 for the previous year. The export of skins without wool is equally startling. For July-Decem-ber the total was 163,092, and nothing for the same period of tho previous year. It is suggested that Germany is behind this business. A Federal inquiry as to the destination of the skins is demanded.
