"EXTREMELY THREATENING”

EXPECTED
Thotlgk Wellington enjoyed perfect holiday weather yesterday, other parts of New Zealand were not so fortunate, reports to hand indicating that many places experienced ; rain, wind, and generally unpleasant conditions. In some towns, both north and south of the capital, very had weather was recorded, There was a marked change in Wellington soon after sundown last i evening, the wind freshening from the south, and rain beginning to fall. The outlook is now extremely threatening, and a hard southerly gale may bo expected. As the Dominion Meteo-rologist-put it last night,-“ There' are some pretty strong winds about after the recent .calm." Mr Pemberton issued the following forecast: —The barometric gradient is unusually steep fjo the westward, and conditions ,J' ,re threatening for stormy and wot weather everywhere, with southerly winds strong to galo prevailing.
