LAWN TENNIS

MANAKAU CLUB. Playing for the trophy in connection with the Manakau tennis tournament, Miss Houghton (8) defeated Mrs McBain (9), 30—23. It was a good game, full of interest. This left Mrs Burnell and Miss Houghton in the final, which was also played last evening. Although Mrs Burnell was giving her opponent eight points, it was generally thought she wouldwin. However, Miss Houghton played a really fine game, and won with ease, 30—17. In the men’s division, Philip (sot) beat Tarake (owe 6), 60—42, and J. Johnson (20) beat Eiri Mason (10). This leaves Andrew, Reidy, Philip, and Johnson in the semifinal.
