The “Gear" clip realised up to 15d per lb, and averaged 12Jd. Private cabled advice received in Wellington last night stated that at the Sydney sales yesterday Messrs Wfinchcombe. Carson, and Co. sold 6400 bales of wool. The market was strong, at the best rates of the season, and competition wag very general. The firm obtained 153 d per lb for the "E.D.H. At Waikanao on Tuesday we had a fair yarding of sheep and a good entry of cattle, although owing "to the inclement weather stock did not ,come forward as advertised. The demand was not so keen, but wo were successful in disposing of all linos, except a few store cows, at tho following prices: Fat shorn ewes 16s. yearling steers £3, 2i-year steers £4 17e 6d to £5 ss, springing heifers £7 10s, bulla to £3 ss. At Waikanao yesterday we offered a fair entry of both sheep and cattle to a full attendance of buyers, who were present from Palmerston North, Levin, Otaki, aifl surrounding districts. Wellington butchers were in attendance, and secured one or two lots of fat sheep and cattle. Wo sold light-weight fat ewes (shorn) at 14s 9d. shorn hoggets (mixed sexes) to 13s 6d. 15mocth heifers (r.w.b.) to £4. 2-year-old steers to £4 15s, weaner heifers to 31*, mixed weaners to 265.
