AFFAIRS AT WAIHI
MEETING OP THE NEW UNION, Pres* Association. WAIHI, December 4. The day shift on coming off work this afternoon held an impromptu mass meeting. Mr Eudd presided over the new union and addressed the men. He explained that within an hour or two tha trustees of the old union would be serving hi m with notice requesting that tho keys be handed over not later than Saturday next. The building -had been broken into. The strikers had that day put new locks and bars on. all the doors. Referring to the resolution of the federa,. tionists that none of their members should joint tho arbitration union the speaker said that was tantamount to striking ad far as Waihi was concerned. However, they had the assurance of the Waihi Company that only members of an arbitration union would get employment in the mine, and in face of that federationists would not find Waihi an attractive place to remain in. The strike would die, he thought, a natural death.
