BLACKSMITH’S DISPUTE
CASE BEFORE CONCILIATION COUNCIL. PRESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, August 5. A meeting of the Conciliation Council was hold tuis morning to consider the dispute between the Auckland Farriers and General Blacksmiths’ Union and employers. Generally speaking, the claims were for an increase of wages, overtime, and alteration of the preference clause. The union asked for absolute preference, and the employers had a counter-proposal for a modified form of prexereuce. Consideration of the various points xn dispute was taken in committee.
