POLICEMAN’S BRUTAL ACT STARTS MELEE. NEW YORK, August 1. Strikers in some furriers’ establishments, aided by sympathisers, engaged in a serious conflict with the police yesterday. . , The police were escorting a party of strike-breakers when a woman, Anna Techusky, sprang upon a strike-break-er. A constable beat Techusky senseless, and then the riot broke out. Seven strikers were arrested.
