SUBURBS CONTEST

MR MOORE’S CANDIDATURE, Mr F. T. Moore, Labour candidate for the Suburbs seat, put in an extremely busy day on Saturday, motoring over a largo part of the electorate, addressing meetings and interviewing • prominent electors of Island Bay, Karon, Ohariu, Ferirua, and Pahautanui. At Porirua he met with a very cordial reception from 300 electors. There he addressed two meetings, receiving votes of confidence, coupled with cheers.

SIR BELL AT PAHAUTANTJI AND POIUUXJA.

Mr 801 l addressed crowded meetings at Pahautanui and Porirua on Saturday uiglit. Mr James'Pearce took the chair; at Pahautanui and Mr W. Mungaviu at Porirua. The candidate returned bia thanks to those who had worked so hard to iiiace him at the head of the poll .on' Thursday last, and also to those who had supported him by their votes. Ho pointed out that if the electors who supported either Mr Fitzgerald or Mr Luke at the first ballot voted for him at the coming election, they would be practically supporting the same political ideals they had supported before, the only difference being that they would be recording their votes in favour of cleaner administration. Ho expected the contest would be keenly fought, and that he would require tho support of ail his sympathisers if he was to win. The candidate was. well received at each meet-, ihg, and was accorded votes of thanks and' confidence, accompanied by cheers.
