When the Japanese Treaty expires next January immigration and commercial relations with Canada will be subject ■ for two years to a modus vivendi, during which time a now treaty will be prepared. A cable message sent from Ottawa on June 29th last stated that the Dominion Government was sending Dr Da Hamel on a mission to Japan, to renew, if possih l e, the Lemicux Agreement, restricting the number of Japanese entering Canada to four hundred yearly. The agreement expires in January next.
