A WEEK’S GAOL
FOR ASSAULTING A JUDGE. •By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. LONDON. July 13. The man who assaulted Mr Justice Ridley at Hull at the conclusion of the election petition against Sir H. S. King, has been sentenced to a week's hard labour for common assault. On June Ist, Mr Justice Ridley, Mr Justice Buckoill concurring, declared Sir H. S. King's election for Hull void, on the ground that the distribution by the respondent of coal and other charity had been continued during the progress of the election. After the decision a crowd hoot'd the judges and pelted them with gler.es of coal Two men were arrested, ut' one was afterwards released.
