MIRAMAR BOROUGH
MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. The Miramar Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor, Mr J. Brodie, presiding. There wore present—Conn- ■ cillors Richards, Telford, Dell, Stone, Bowie/and Laxirenson.’ ■ Mr A. 15. Mabiu wrote complaining -about the lighting of this Seatouri tunnel.—lt . was decided that , a letter oil tiro subject be sent to the tramways ' engineer. , Tho tramway committee reported ..that, it had been decided to arrange for an extra car to run on the Scatouu section, leaving tho terminus., at 7.10 a.ni;, tho car to run for one igontli. It recommended to the_ council that the suggestion of Councillor Belt_ that/ one shilling coupon tickets, entitling/ residents to twelve rides over either / section on any day of tho week, bo adopted, and . that , tho tickets bo pro- • curable at tho- stores iu tho district and' at tho council office.—Tho recom- . mendation was adopted, tho coupon ;' tickets to bo nbn-transferable. Tho tree-planting committee recom-'/ mended that tho planting on Toni street lie deferred; that Bark road ho planted along the; east side between tho tram-line and tiio main drain; that tho Worser Bay foreshovo bo levelled - with a view to planting, in place of planting along the foreshovo from '. Scorching Bay to Seatoun, tho committee having asked the borough engineer to report on the matter. Tho proposals for planting tho,Pass of Brands and tho school frontage to Scatonu ,ii Heights road had been approved.—Tim report was adopted. Tho Department of Internal Affairs !, notified that tho Government was pro- . pared to pay a maximum subsidy oJ £250 on the construction of a Corona- : tion building.—lt was decided to in- ; form tho department that the borough, j proposed to erect a Coronation build- :' iug, in the shape of municipal chain* ' hers, at a cost of £6OO or £7OO.
