ONSLOW BOROUGH
MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. PROPOSED . TRAMWAY EXTENSION TO KAIWAKKA. A ’ meeting* of the’ Onslow Borough. Council was hold last ‘evening, -there being present the Mayor (Mr if. Holdsworth) and Councillors Lynnebe-rg, .Gardner, Bowden, Bates, Stafford, Dingwall, ApLn and Darvall. Wadestown; also, - that 55 - a committee 'consisting of the councilicßs for Ngaio ward and tho Mayor bo appointed to deal with this matter." ’ ‘ : Councillor Stafford' seconded. . Th©, motion, was carried. - A motion was moved * by Councillor Dingwall that th© Government be asked to put down a kerbing dividing the footpath - irom the bicycle . track from Kaiwarra. to the Esplanade! ’The Mayor thought the council should not commit itself to anything connected with the Hutt road, as otuer local bodies were acting similarly.' Another • reason was that the land was in the city, not in the borough. . - Th© motion was lost. EXTENSION OF THE TRAMWAY. The following - was moved by Councillor Bowden*. "That a deputation consisting, of members of the Onslow Borough Council bo appointed to wait on the Wellington City Council to urge th© desirability of extension of the tramway from the’ Esplanade terminus to Ivaiwaxra as -speedily as possible." The councillor , said that already a petition in favour of this had been signed bv 127 persons. H© know that by statute electric traction was forbidden on this road, but he thought something oould-be don©. The Mayor was of opinion that tho law was too. big a . stumbling block. Th© motion-was carried. v
