SENSATIONAL ESCAPE.

DANGERS OF ALPINE CLIMBING. BERNE, November 1. A sensational climbing incident happened at Orisons —the largest canton in Switzerland. A boy fifteen years old named Schiez was climbing one of the peaks with his father, when the latter slipped. Although the rope connecting the two cut into his flesh, the boy succeeded, with the aid of an ice-axe, in holding his father. For two hours they were dangling over a precipice. Eventually their cries brought shepherds to their assistance, and both were rescued.
