THE LABOUR PARTY. MR REID’S OPINIONS AND PREDICTIONS. A FIRST DISASTER. SYDNEY, November 2. Mr Reid, ex-Fcderal Premier, in the course of an interview respecting tho West Australian elections, declared that tho sectional politics of a sectional party had met their first great disaster. Tho Queensland political situation was also big with similar possibilities. Mr Reid concluded by predicting tho punishment of the Dcakin-Labour alliance. THE HARVESTER TRUST. A CAUCUS HELD. MELBOURNE, November 2. Cabinet and the Labour leaders each held a caucus to discuss the harvester question,, but in neither case was a decision arrived at. ' Mr Dcakin, the Premier, stated that tho Government was awaiting further information, but it is rumoured that the Government is really awaiting the decision of the Labour party before it decides on a definite course of action.
VANCOUVER MAIL SERVICE. MELBOURNE, November 2. Tho Senate has approved tho Vancouver mail contract. LOCAL OPTION BILL KILLED. HOBART, November 2. The Legislative Council rejected tho Local Option Bill on the second reading by five votes to four. THE CAPITAL SITE. (Received November 3, 1.15 a.m.) SYDNEY, November 2. Air Carruthers, Premier of Now South Wales, replying to Mr Dcakin, Federal Premier, in reference' to the legal difficulty over the .site for tho Federal capital, protests that if the Federal Parliament proceeds with further legislation in the matter, before negotiations are concluded, the result will ho the engendering of serious dissatisfaction in New South Wales.
