THE MANWACrnTBE OF WOOIiLEN GOODS. (Received April 7, 11.7 p,m.) MELBOURNE, April 7. Giving evidence before the Tariff Commission, Mr O. Dane, a mercer, advocated the imposition of duties of 75 per cent, to 100 per cent, on woollen goods, in order to cause an inflow of capital to start mills. He stated that a thousand persons were employed in the tailoring trade in Collins street, yet not one yard of Australian tweed was made up by them.
