MIRAMAR AND SEATOUN TRAMWAY.
(To the Editor "N.Z. Times.”) Sir,—ln reply to your, correspondent “J.11.P.” re Miramar, I have only to say that his letter of eleven and a half inches proves nothing as to profit or loss of the proposal. Not one writer in either paper has shown any reason at all why ratepayers should pay .£70,000 for a park when as good a park on the Town .belt can be had for nothing.
Not a single-writer lias shown that it ig a proper thing for City Councillors to form themselves into a joint stock company to speculate with ratepayers’ money in a doubtful venture. They may presume on the ignorance or apathy of ratepayers and be successful, but all that will not prove that as representatives of the public they are doing their duty disinterestedly.-! am, etc., September 5.
