THE PACIFIC.

The schooner Pearl Ims arrived here from New Guinea, bringing eigbt survives -s from the German barque Edith.

Tho chief mate of tho Edith. Mr Krager, states that the vessel left Puget Sound (British Columbia) ou January 18th for Port Pirie, with a cargo of timber. All wont well until March 19th when the barque ran ou to Kerens shoal, off New Caledonia., and became a total wreck in an hour.

Tho crow took to tho boats, Captain Ocrtc-1 and ten men going in one, and Air Krager and seven men in another, each boat having throe ■weeks’ provisions. Tho boats kept together until night, but next morning there was no sign of tho captain’s boat. Tho mate’s boat was picked up by a Gorman barque on Alarch 26th, three miles from tho coast of New Guinea, and the crew landed at Port Moresby mission station. -
