The Victorian representative j?ek> team which is to arrive in Nctv Zealand i,ttie Monowai on the 7th I 1 ebruary, and to play matches with the principal clubs throughout the colony, paid championship games at Palmerston North and Wellington, is constituted as follows: Messrs' H. A. D. Hood and R. A. Affleck (Caramut), Colin Robertson and George Robertson (Colac) and Edward Manifold (Camperdown). Mr Manifold is captain and manager of the team. Tho first match will b© played, about the Uth proximo, probably against Wellington representatives at Miramar. The visitors’ ponies are expected to arrive by tho Wostralia on the 31st inst. They will be located at the Island Bay stables. Wellington will play a match against Mauawatu at Miramar on the 24th inst. A thoroughly good practice was held at Miramar on Saturday, good form noting displayed not only by representative players, but by comparative novices who have recently taken up this exhilarating pastime. Amongst the players were Messrs Strang, of the Oroua team, and Mr C- P. feiierrett, the latter gentleman taking the saddle for the first time since the accident which resulted in tho breaking of his collarbone. The Wellington representatives arc likely to be well mounted in their coming contests with tho crack "Victorian team. Some of 'their ponies are particularly fast and plucky, and play the game with quite human intelligence.
