SCHOOL ENTERTAINMENT. The Exchange Hall was' filled last night, when the pupils of St. Francis Xavier’s Academy gave an entertainment in aid of a prize fund. After the orchestra had played Bousquitiar’e entree “L* Emotion,” and the ’• Marche des Consents ” (Lott) had been performed on two pianos by Misses M. Vincent, Gallagher, Frioa and Dorset, the feature of the evening, the operetta " Fair Cinderella,” was produced. Miss Elsie Cundy, who took the name part, sang her mnsio sweetly and correctly, and Miss Atkina as Prince Campostalla spoke her lines fairly well. The vigour of ihe herald (Mias N. Twohill) was refreshing. Miss H. Greenwood and Miss G. Brittain were the proud sisters, and Miss Twohill was the wonder-working fairy god mother. Incidental to the piece there was a housemaids’ dance; and flower sprites and elves also danced and mareljqd. In the billroom scene the ladies and gentlemen of the court trade appropriate measures, All the characters were attired in gay costumes, and the scene under the play of the limelight was occasionally effective. As interludes, Miss MoSherry and Miss N. Skorrett played Coria’s “Marche Triomphala ” as a duet for two pianos j Miss A. Meehan performed a “Canzonotta” for the violin by Danbe ; Misses Coyle, Sexton, A. Candy and Wright played “ J.es Diamantsde la Couronne ” (Aubor) on two pianos, and the piano duet, “ Der Lustige Bauer ” (Schumann), y?aa contributed by Misses A. Twogood and G. Sfcsrrott. The entertainment concluded with the amusing sketch “ Goose with Golden Eggs,” in which Miss Wright caused much laughter as Mr Tnrby, a country lawyer of the Dundreary stamp. The entertainment will be repeated this evening.
