PRESENTATION TO LIEUTENANT MACDONALD.

The Kolburna Uifloa paraded at the Drillshod last night under Captain Davis, and having elected Mr P. H. Millar as the new lieutenant, marched to the Trooadero, where a “ social ” was held in honour of Lieutenant Macdonald, who is leaving the corps to taka command of the Boys’ Institute Cadets. Mr Macdonald was presented withaa illuminated address. The following is the text of the address! "To Lieutenant F. W. Macdonald. Sir, —We the officers, noncommissioned officers and privates of the Kelburne Rifles desire to place upon record an impression of the company’s regret at losing your valuable services, bat at the same time to offer you our hearty congratulations upon your promotion to the captaincy of the Naval Institute Cadet i. We feel assured that the ability you have always displayed in the discharge of your duties amongst ns will be followed in your new command by like ' success. We are sensible that the leading position our company has attained for discipline- and efficiency is in a great measure due to your efforts and example. Nor as Volunteer soldiers do we forget that yon have ever tempered zeal with good fellowship as a brother comrade in arms, and, in conclusion, we heartily wish yon all prosperity and snccess in your new capacity,” This was signed by Captain Davis, Rev P. T. Sheriff (chaplain) and the company. The Key Me Sheriff, chaplain of the corps, was also in attendance. An enjoyable evening waa spent, and full justice was done the supper supplied by Mr Pinnook. Corporal Wallis acted as secretary, and piloted the proceedings. Songs were contributed by Captain Davis, Sergeants Tinney and Macaulay, Corporal s’letoher and Privates Douglas and Moody, Mr Sheldon kindly added much to the enjoyment of the evening, singing songs and giving a ventruoqnial performance. Toasts of the Queen and Commandant of the forces, coupled with, the names of Colonel Nawall and Major Collins, were duly honoured.
