THE DUNEDIN HOSPITAL.

By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, October 20. The new operating theatre at the Hospital was opened to-day by the chairman of the Trustees, Mr Peter Miller, who said the only thing that pulled up the Trustees in going on with improvements was the want of funds, and unless ,810,000, tho surplus from the Savings Bank, was given the funds would be low for some time. The public had subscribed during Jubilee time a considerable sum for a children’s ward and the Trustees would be able to go on with the work with the sum available, amounting to about £SOOO. Drs Gloss, Ferguson, Batchelor and Colquohuon urged the Trustees to secure the Savings Bank surplus, as the staff could not rest with the present accommodation the patients had to put up with. They wanted a medical wing, isolation wards and a ward for eyes.
