THE FLAX INDUSTRY.
Special to the New Zealand Timer. Wanganui, January 21.
Mr J. Holmes, flax expert, has returned to Wanganui after visiting Opunake, Hawera and New Plymouth, and he reports having had a successful trip. There is a large area of flax in the Taranaki district, and if a revival takes place, he expects ' that 12 to 11 mills would be profitably employed. Mr Holmes speaks in the highest terms of the manner in which ho was received, especially by the press, and a generous support was accorded to the movement by flaxmillers, traders and settlers.
