A NARROW ESCAPE.

By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, January 31,

At 9.30 on Tuesday night, as the tram was being driven on the public road and railway crossing at Addington, a special train, consisting of an engine and one carriage, grazed the back of the tram-car •without doing any damage. There were several passengers on the tram-car. It is estimated that the speed of the tram was 20 miles an hour. A short time ago a horse was killed at Sydenham under similar circumstances, and the driver is still in the hospital.
