NAPIER NEWS.
Special to the New Zealand Tines. Napier, January 21. On the 14th inst., a human skull and thigh bones were found in the bed of the Akatio river, near the co-operative camp. Enquiries resulted in the identification of the remains as those of the late W. Tiddler, a settler and labourer. His widow identified the skull by the teeth, find also by a peculiar formation- of the frontal bore. Deceased, with two companions, was, on the day of his death, 17th May, 1595, conveying food supplies in a boat down the river. The boat capsized, and deceased was drowned, while his companions escaped. Search was made for the body at the time, without avail.
