The strike of omnibus men threatens to bo prolonged, as both masters and men re* fuse to make farther concessions. Ten thousand hands are out, and collections are being made in the streets for their support. (PER PRESS ASSOCIATION, J (Received June 12, 7.30 p.m.) London, June 1L The Directors of the London General Omnibus Company and Road Car Company refuse to confer with the men out on strike, and threaten unless the offer they made a few days ago is accepted, to engage new hands, in which case they will not give employment to any of their old hands, even although they may agree to accept their terms.

The chairman of the London General Omnibus Company asserts that it would cost the Company £167,000 a year to accede to the men’s demands. Tho Trades and Labour Council, in reply to a letter from the Employers’ Association, passed the following resolution, which still delays the formation of the proposed Board of Conciliation :—That the ballot of Unions proves unsatisfactory to tho formation of a Board of Conciliation on the basis proposed in the rules, but that this Council is prepared to meet tho Employers’ Association with fresh proposals for establishing a Board of Conciliation ; at the same time intimating the desirableness of awaiting farther deve* lopment of the Labour Bills now before Parliament prior to taking final action. Christchurch, June 12.

At a meeting to-night, representing the City Council, the trade societies, and citizens, and preside! over by the Mayor, a committee was appointed to get.up a demon* stration in aid of the funds for the memorial to tho late S. D. Parnell, originator of the Eight Hour System, The tone of the meeting was decidedly hearty. Mr H. W, Potter, secretary of the general committee, was present.
