July 24.—Arrived and sailed: Murray and Taranaki, from Manukau; Go-ahead, from Wanganui. The R.M.S. Cyphrenes left Auckland on Thursday afternoon for this port, via Napier, and may, therefore, be expected to make her appearance during Sunday afternoon. She will sail again for the South the same evening, returning on Thursday on which day she will finally leave with the San Francisco mail, via Napier and Auckland to Kandavau, where she will connect with the s.s. Mikado, by which boat the mails will be taken on to Honolulu and San Francisco. Some anxious inquiries have been made during the last day or two about the s.s. Rangatira, considerably overdue from Napier. She sailed from that port at 11.15 a.m. on the 20th; but owing to the gale that was blowing about that time, was obliged to anchor at Castle Point. The gale, however, continued with unabated fury; in fact, increased, and as the anchors were dragging, she ran for Napier, where she has since been waiting for the weather to moderate. As the much desired change ha 3 now taken place the Eangatira may be expected in here about noon to-day. The favorable weather of yesterday was taken advantage of by quite a fleet of small craft which sailed in the evening. They were five in number, viz., the Aspasia, for Castle Point; the Canterbury, for Havelock: the Isabella, for Hokitika ; the Eyno, for Picton; and the Mary Ellen, for Foxton. The s.s. Phoebe, Captain AVorsp, arrived yesterday morning from the South, having left Lyttelton at 4 p.m. on Thursday. She brings nine cabin and six steerage passengers : also, a number of immigrants, who recently arrived at Lyttelton by the Sussex. On board are two of Mr. Redwood's racehorses for Auckland, where they will be transhipped to Sydney on the next trip of the Hero. The Phcebe goes North at noon to-day. The Napier, which arrived yesterday from Napier, with a general cargo of produce, &c, left again in the evening for Blenheim, having been chartered to convey fifty of the Sussex immigrants who arrived from Lyttelton in the morning by the Phcebe. As the Napier will be unable to cross the bar her passengers will be transhipped into a smaller steamer and thus landed. Messrs. Turnbnll's steamer will then return to Wellington, and immediately load for Foxton, whither she will sail this afternoon. The schooner Bonnie Lass arrived yesterday morning from Havelock, with a cargo of timber.
