WELLINGTON RACING CLUB.

The monthly meeting of stewards of th© Wellington Racing Club was held on Monday, Mr T. G. Macarthy (president) in the chair. The balance-sheet in connection with the recent winter meeting was submitted, showing a most satisfactory result. The Masterton Racing Club submitted programmes for the spring and autumn meetings. A sub-committee was appointed to examine and pass the same if in compliance with the rules. It was decided to extend the existing and trainers’ licenses until the 19th instant. The Jockeys’ and Trainera* Licenses Committee will deal with several new applications to-da—. W. Fahey, who was injured at the Steeplechase meeting, was voted £6 from the jockeys’ accident fund. A complaint from a horseowner in reference to the riding of his horse at the recent winter meeting was held over for further information and inquiry by the stewards.

The Masterton Racing Club’s application to place defaulting owners on the forfeit list was agreed to on the usual conditions. A programme committee was appointed to draft a programme for the spring meeting. The secretary was instructed to make inquiries in the direction of obtaining information in regard to a starting clock. It having been reported by the caretaker that a horse had exercised over the steeplechase course before the winter meeting, the trainer of same having represented that he had permission to do so, when no such permission had been granted, the secretary was directed to write for an explanation before taking action-
