COMMERCIAL TRAVELLER'S AND WAREHOUSEMEN’S CLUB.
The annual meeting of the Wellington Commercial Travellers’ and Warehousemen’s Association was held last Monday. Mr D. J. Nathan presiding, owing to the absence of Mr John Ross, the president. A letter was read from the president expressing his determination not to seek re-election. The report and balance-sheet were adopted, the latter being of a satisfactory character. The former showed the total membership to be 326, there being an increase of eight on the preceding year, and the net profit on the working account had been £470 13s 9d. The chairman congratulated members on the eminently satisfactory character of both documents. They had to deplore the fact that death had removed several members during the year, and it would be their duty to consider the advisability of strengthening the relief fund. The election of officers resulted in Mr D. J. Nathan being unanimously elected president, Mr E. J. Barnett hon treasurer, and Mr W. R. Cook auditor (re-elected). A motion by one of the members, “ That it be a suggestion to the committee that the club be closed all day on Sunday,” was lost. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the retiring president (Mr John Ross), Mr Nathan, who moved the motion, eulogising
the gentleman’s services to the club. Votes of thanks were also passed to the “ Press ” and the " Servants of the club.” The following committee was elected for the ensuing year : —Travellers : Messrs A. G. Croll, A. Dunk, S. S. Griffiths, J. D. Mitchell, D. B. Nolan, R. J. Ross, W. S. Salmon, T. Wilson, Geo. Witt. Warehousemen : Messrs A. Disher, A. Dixon, J. T I. Owen, J. J. Reich, W. G. Reid, M. Russell.
